Ahmet Somers

Theater, film, and television series actress, director, screenwriter, and drama professor. Born in 1959 in İzmir, Turkey. His full name is Ahmet Mark Somers. In June 1985, he completed his higher education at Dokuz Eylül University, graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Performing Arts (Theater-Acting). During his academic years, he specialized in Child Theater, pedagogy, puppetry, creative drama, pantomime, slapstick, fencing, body language, shadow theater, and acrobatics. Upon graduation, he joined the Child and Youth unit of the Ankara State Theater, where he trained in clowning and juggling under Daniel Holliger (Ecole Coque). He dedicated over 29 years of service as an actor and director across the State Theaters of Ankara, Bursa, and Istanbul, while researching the vocal and acting methodologies of Gestalt, Yu-Ki, Grotowski, and Suzuki. Ahmet Somers is an acclaimed Turkish television and character actor. He captured massive global prominence through his portrayal of Alptekin Bolat in the smash-hit romantic comedy series "Sen Çal Kapımı" (Love is in the Air, 2020–2021). His screen portfolio features anchors in prominent television series. His notable credits include starring in the period comedy "Yeşil Deniz" (2014–2016), the historical drama "Payitaht Abdülhamid" (2017), and the crime-thriller "Halka" (2019). He successfully expanded his primetime profile by joining the cast of the drama series "Aldatmak" (2023–2024). On the silver screen, his motion picture credits include appearing in the feature film "Vali". Interesting facts: He possesses extensive international experience; in Stuttgart, Germany, he compiled and directed the authentic village play "Madımak" while conducting advanced acting workshops using his unique methodology. He taught Diction and Drama at Uludağ University for three years and directed its university theater troupe for four years. He served as a board member and art director for TOBAV for three years. Additionally, he worked as the General Art Director and Schools General Manager for the Müjdat Gezen Art Center for two years and has spent five years helming the Renault theater troupe (TİYATOR) as its General Art Director.
