Gül Arcan

Gül Arcan (full name Gül Arcan Gürses) was born on 20 October 1959 in Ankara, Turkey. She grew up in a family close to the arts and has an older brother and sister. She entered the conservatory in her primary-school years, first studying in the ballet department and later graduating from the Theatre Department of the State Conservatory at Ankara University. Since 1986 she has worked at the Ankara State Theatre and appeared in film and television. Her credits include Muhteşem Serseri (1986, as the uncle's secretary), Mikrop (1988), Binbir Surat (1994), Ona Bakma Bana Bak (2000), Gülbeyaz (2002), Ah Polis Olsam (2006), Çok Özel Tim (2007, as Cavidan Bayraktaroğlu), İki Dünya Arasında (2014, as Aunt Teslime) and Kadere Karşı (2022, as Aliye). She became widely known for the role of Şükran in Adını Sen Koy (2016–2018) and Cavidan in Yemin (2019–2022). Her film work includes Zebun (2021). In 1984 Gül Arcan married actor and comedian Atilla Arcan, known for his celebrity-impression show Binbir Surat. The marriage lasted until his death in 2015. They have four children: Şebnem Sevgi, Barış, Özgür and Çağrı.
