Persona

Plot: Agâh Beyoğlu is a 65-year-old retired court clerk living a quiet life in Istanbul. His world turns upside down when he is diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer's disease. Realizing that he will eventually lose all his memories and conscience, Agâh decides to execute a long-delayed revenge plan against criminals who escaped justice for a past atrocity. Leaving cryptic notes on his victims' bodies, Agâh addresses each crime to Nevra Elmas, the only female homicide detective in the Istanbul police force, dragging her into a complex web of unremembered pasts and systemic corruption. Trivia: Produced by Ay Yapım and directed by Onur Saylak from a brilliant script by Hakan Günday, "Şahsiyet" (*Persona*) originally debuted on puhutv before returning for a second season on Gain. Haluk Bilginer gave a legendary performance as Agâh Beyoğlu, winning the International Emmy Award for Best Actor in 2019 — making him the first Turkish actor to receive an International Emmy. Starring alongside Cansu Dere as Nevra, the series gained global critical acclaim for its sleek cinematography, darkly comedic tones, sharp commentary on justice, and masterful storytelling.
