The Bad Penny / Three Cents

The series brings together three distinct men caught in a dangerous game of crime and justice. Kartal is the sharp-witted, charismatic, and fiercely protective godfather of Çıngırak, a colorful yet impoverished Roma neighborhood in Istanbul, where he runs an illegal gambling empire. Efe is a rebellious, highly principled, and cynical homicide detective who has spent months trying to dismantle Kartal’s criminal operations and bring him to justice. Their bitter cat-and-mouse game is violently disrupted by the arrival of İrfan, a cold-blooded, psychopathic serial killer. İrfan targets corrupt and wealthy individuals, leaving behind a signature token of three copper coins (three pennies) on the bodies of his victims. When İrfan commits a high-profile murder right on Kartal's turf, he draws both the police and the criminal underworld into a chaotic frenzy. Realizing that they are dealing with an elusive ghost, Detective Efe and Mob Boss Kartal are forced to put their mutual hatred aside and form an unlikely, highly volatile alliance to track down the killer. As they delve into the dark, labyrinthine underbelly of the city, the investigation becomes deeply personal. They soon uncover that the killer’s motivations are tied to a horrific trauma from twenty years ago—a dark secret from the past that directly binds the destinies of Kartal, Efe, and İrfan together.
