One of Turkey's most popular actors, Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ — star of the series "Forbidden Love" (Aşkı Memnu), "Kuzey Güney" and "Aile" — has surprised fans by shutting off access to his Instagram and X accounts.
On August 12–13, 2026, it became known that the actor's Instagram account, followed by around 5 million people, had suddenly become inaccessible. It soon emerged that Tatlıtuğ had also closed his account on X. No official comment on the reasons for this step came from the actor himself or his representatives at first.
What makes the situation especially puzzling is that, shortly before this, the actor had actually become noticeably more active on social media, so the sudden disappearance caught fans off guard.
Turkish media immediately floated a number of theories. One version — a hacking attack — was quickly ruled out: there is no confirmation of a breach, and the decision was made by the actor himself. The most popular theory circulating on social media was a "digital detox." There was also talk of the actor wanting to distance himself from rumors about his personal life or co-stars, as well as general fatigue with public life — Tatlıtuğ has long been known for carefully guarding his private life despite a long on-screen career.
A few days later, a clarification came from insider Müge Dağıstanlı Erdoğan: according to her information, there is no major crisis or specific reason behind the actor's decision, contrary to widespread rumors. The actor himself, commenting on the situation, stressed that this radical decision had no particular trigger.
Tatlıtuğ's career began with the titles "Best Model of Turkey" and "Best Model of the World" in the early 2000s, after which he smoothly moved into acting. He gained the most popularity through roles in the series "Gümüş," "Aşkı Memnu," "Kuzey Güney," "Çarpışma," and the more recent "Aile."
