Love 101

Plot: Set in Istanbul in the late 1990s, the story centers on four rebellious misfits (Eda, Kerem, Sinan, and Osman) who face expulsion due to their disruptive behavior. Only a kind teacher named Burcu stands up for them. When they learn that Burcu is being transferred to another school, the teenagers realize they will be expelled as soon as she leaves. To keep her in town, they team up with a top student, Işık, and scheme to make Burcu fall in love with the new basketball coach, Kemal. While carrying out their plan, the teenagers learn the value of true friendship, experience first love, and search for their own identities, while parallel present-day scenes reveal their reunion years later. Trivia: The series is a completely original Netflix project written by Meriç Acemi rather than an adaptation of a book or movie. Before its release in 2020, it sparked controversy over fake rumors claiming it featured an LGBT character, sparking boycott calls in Turkey that Netflix had to officially deny. Despite the backlash, the show became a hit and was released in over 190 countries. The main cast features popular Turkish actors Alina Boz, Kubilay Aka, Mert Yazıcıoğlu, Selahattin Paşalı, and Pınar Deniz, alongside Kaan Urgancıoğlu, who later achieved international fame starring in the hit series "Family Secrets" (Yargı).
